i discovered a pile of small brass plaques probably from a library card catalog. my father collected this long ago...anyway, these have corroded and also have a laquer like finish on them...i tried paint thinner which did nothig...a also tried sanding them which worked better...is there any other method to remove this coating thats no so labor intensive...they are solid brassand will make very nice bezels if i can get down do metal...any clues?

Stacy's Answer: Tina, this a bit off topic for my jewelry website, but I'd recommend looking at companies that specialize in sandblasting, for removing paint and lacquer coatings from metal surfaces. Assuming the metal is not too thin, this may be a perfect solution to your dilemma. Try doing a Google search for more information about such services in your area.
